Le Grad Sud II - 11 jours - Marrakech à Marrakech
1- Arrival to Marrakech
Airport reception and transfer to the hotel.
2- Marrakech Tizi-n-test- Taroudant - Tyout
Start out from Marrakech in the morning. Cross the high mountains. Drive along
the Tizi-n-test Valley, along several villages and Kasbahs. Get to Taroudant.
Visit the two markets (Berber and Bedouin). Spend a relaxing bivouac night in
the heart of Tyout oasis.
3- Tyoute - Ait Baha - Tafraouate
Visit the Kasbah. Visit Ait Baha, a village surrounded by "Argan" trees (reputed
for their oil). It is one of the other pearls of the Anti Atlas Mountains.
Afterwards right away to Taroudant. Accommodation at a hotel.
4- Tafraout - Tazagzaouate Valley - Tata
Visit the rocks, Ameln Valley. Enjoy the beautiful and panoramic views while
crossing the valley and gorges of Tazagzaouate. Then you get to Tata, one of the
nicest Bedouin villages. Accommodation at a hotel.
5- Tata - Foumzguid - Iriqui - Erg lihoudi
This stage is the most beautiful and interesting, and full of adventure. It
passes by the Bedouin village of Tissint, the big dry lake of Iriqui (a large
river full of sand), and Oum Laalague oasis. Then you have a tea break (served
under tents). Afterwards, drive through desert plateaux which lead you to the
first date palms of Draa Valley. Finally, you reach Erg Lihoudi dunes for a
magic night in wild bivouac.
6- Erg Lihoudi Dunes - Zagoura - Maider
Immediately after breakfast, drive to Zagoura for a Hammam (bath). Have lunch.
In the afternoon, follow the track which goes through Tizi-Tfilalet Hamadas
along the border between Algeria and morocco until you get to the Berber
village, Maider. For the night, taste the hospitality of a Berber family.
7- Maider - Khamlia (village of the blacks) - Merzouga
The track passes by kssours, rivers, a tiny sacred forest, and desert plateaux.
A real expedition! Finally you reach the Erg Chebbi dunes for a very quiet night
at an inn.
8- Merzouga - Erg Chebbi - Merzouga ( The Dunes: Around and Through )
The finest thing is to watch the Sunset and Sunrise at the top of the dunes.
From there the view covers the Hamadas. Visit the village of blacks. Visit the
minerals, the oases, the fossil quarries as well as the prehistoric vestiges.
The way back to the inn is on dromedary back at round 16:00. Sleep under nomadic
tents at a oasis in the middle of the dunes.
9- Merzouga - Toudra and Dades Gorges
On your way to Toudra, stop in Erfoud for a while and visit Marmar (Fossil
Factory). Then the journey goes on passing by several Kasbahs and oases until
you reach Tinghir (Todra Gorges). Lunch "break". Finally Dades Gorges where to
spend an unforgettable night at an inn.
10- Dades Gorges - Ait Benhaddou - Marrakech
This last day in the circuit consists of a visit to Dades Gorges, Rose valley,
then Ait Benhaddou (the most famous Kasbah in Morocco). Enjoy a delicious lunch
there. Afterwards, the trip continues along and through the winding passages of
the high Atlas Mountains, Tizi-n-Tishka ending up in Marrakech.
11- End of the Circuit
Transfer to the Airport.
